Sea (and Sand)

Beaches:

Gwenver beach is a short 10 minute walk along the quiet lane from Myn Tea back towards the A30. Venture through the picturesque tunnel of trees on your right (by the small car park) which frames the turquoise blue vista. The effort of the 360 steps down to the beach reward you with seclusion and keep the crowds away. Dogs are permitted all year round and is life guard patrolled at high season.

The sandy beach is around 150 metres long and at low tide Gwenver joins up with Sennen beach to become Whitesands Bay and is frequently visited by seals and a resident pod of dolphins.

Neighbouring Sennen Cove is also beautiful and popular for surfers. It has various cafes, shops and a life boat station at the far end together with toilets and is also patrolled by life guards during the summer season.

Surfing:

Gwenver provides some of the best surfing conditions in the UK and attracts experienced surfers with its frequently large swell. Sennen Cove is also an excellent spot for surfing if conditions are too big at Gwenver.

Adults and children alike can book in for lessons with the Sennen Surfing Centre - Sennen Cove, Penzance TR19 7BT.

Kitesurfing:

With the West Cornwall peninsula having beaches facing all wind directions, it is no wonder that it is one of the best places for kitesurfing in the UK. Penzance is very popular as provides excellent conditions and shallow waters.

If you fancy giving it a try, there is a fully accredited Kitesurfing School run by Lee 'Pasty' Harvey (email lee@pastyadventures.co.uk or call on 07814 501920).
